Hat-tip to Dr. Jack [Nov. 2nd, 2009|07:26 am]
Here's my thought for the day: anyone who hasn't looked into the life of Dr. Kevorkian beyond surface news reports should do so. Very interesting person, extremely talented artist, and--in my opinion--something of a paragon of social justice.

He's going to die soon.

I saw Louise Glück read at the Concord Free Public Library. She's an incredible poet, perhaps my favorite.

Nothing to be ecstatic about, but it's something:

Mint Honey is delicious.

Emerson Review meeting in JP, followed by Party at Jamie's tonight. Yay!

Seeing 9 with Brendan tomorrow, which I just looked up, and looks really neat!

I'm seeing Stasia on Saturday and we're going to a gigantic flea market!

Assisting Christie in dogsitting Sunday and eating brunch and probably reading poems and looking at her beautiful collages and giving her kisses because she is my (shhhfavorite?) lesbian.

(It's a hard call between the Jewess/Pepsi Girl, the poet/ankle-lover, and the itty-bitty asian/video editor).

You, yes you, should probably read Kenzaburo Oe's An Echo of Heaven.

Possibly the best book of the 21 this summer. Though Vertigo, The Woman in the Dunes, and The Kangaroo Notebook were also REALLY good.

Perhaps why I love Jeanette so. [Aug. 8th, 2009|10:54 am]
"The novelist Jeanette Winterson had told the Guardian she believed that Padel had been brought down by the misogynistic forces of Oxford, which she called a "sexist little dump"."

Updates: [Aug. 5th, 2009|12:22 am]
+ Internship COMPLETE!
++ I found a really cute mini-stuffed bear by Harvard today...
++ Used books. 7 for $7. Including an anthology!
- Some Asian child (I saw 10000 walk by in a huge group) lost a really cute mini-stuffed bear by Harvard today, and had walked too far for me to figure out who or what or even contemplate trying to return it. I only assume the cute Asian bear belonged to a cute Asian human.

+ Have some more paid (assistant) editing work
+ Am getting through unpaid work slowly but surely
- Kind of in trouble at normal part-time IT job
??? - Am involved or potentially involved with three feature films. In each case the editor's name is Rob.

+ Temp roommate is pretty cool
+? Time to see people again soon?

++++ Going to Spain with my dad.

I'm pretty insensitive (as far as being PC goes) but "do the Helen Keller and talk with your hips" strikes me as not only a terrible lyric, but also as a bit harsh...

Thanks-given. For seeing these friendly faces. [Jul. 13th, 2009|09:31 pm]
Today was strange.

I walked to get my paycheck. I didn't want to pay the subway to get paid.

I thought I saw Jarrod on the way there. Then I saw Amanda and Jarrod on the way there. A block later. But this was the real thing.

I saw Heather on my way down Charles Street. I crossed paths with my roommate's subletter on the Common but she didn't see me.

Tom called out to me, stopped me. We talked. When I went to Student Services to pick up my paycheck, Shauna was working.

Darylle was on streaming radio this morning so I was thinking of her. I tried calling this afternoon, but she was in class. She called me later.

I walked home and made lunch. Later, I walked to Porter in hope of visiting Christie--ran into Ellen, whom I haven't seen in so very long. Christie wasn't at her work when I did get there. But the book i wanted to get as a present was there.

On my way back home I saw Amanda again.

And yet I feel the need for more human contact. A full conversation.

Ani DiFranco is great live. Good company, good music. Torrential rain was delayed until end of concert. Then we got wet.

I think Kate has a set list somewhere.
